Our little flock of poults with mom have continued to visit the past week or so.

I've spotted a molting Cardinal and Blue Jay this week too.  It has also been another warm week here in Rhode Island.

I fed the birds. I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I did more work around the patio.

Today is partly sunny and sweltering.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of sparrows and house finches.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I potted up 12 sweet cherry seeds.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I did some work around the patio.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I did more work around the patio.

EDIT 8/12/25 -- I watered some plants on the old and new picnic tables that were wilting, then did the telephone pole garden and a few of the savanna seedlings.  I'm annoyed that some plants are wilting so soon after copious  watering, because I can't haul that hose around every day, or even every few days. >_<

I've seen a skunk on the patio.

I am done for the night.

Today is partly sunny, humid, and hot.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a few sparrows and house finches.

EDIT 8/10/25 -- I put out water for the birds.  They had drained the small metal birdbath.

EDIT 8/10/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 8/10/25 -- I watered the old picnic table, house yard, and patio plants.

EDIT 8/10/25 -- I watered the new picnic table and septic gardens.  I didn't have energy or daylight to pick up the hose, though; I had to turn it off and just leave it out.  :/  I'll try to reel it up tomorrow.  It's exhausting to maneuver.

I am done for the night.

Yo, gamers!

Check it, I'm not an RPG player by any means. Most I played in terms of RPG is The Legend of Dragoon & Persona 4. Very briefly I tried my hand with Final Fantasy 8, however I feel like the only one that sunk its fang proper was Legend of Dragoon, and Persona 4's social aspect was far more compelling to me than the actual combat -- even though I had my fun with it.

So, I'm looking to experience more RPG titles and see which one sticks to me. My preferred type of games should be anything below the PS2 era. If it's a classic, even better. Something that is beginner friendly, to get me started in the funky fantastical but foreign world of RPGs.

Feel free to comment any suggestions, I'll look into 'em.

I woke up to begin filling the bird feeders and had a surprise - a new turkey mother with 7 chicks hiding in the taller weeds close behind.
She took some seed and called the little ones over as well.   We have a stone/dirt driveway where we toss seed on the ground, plus several other feeders nearby on the front porch and edges of the woods.

I checked the new picnic table and septic garden.  No new vegetables to pick, but multiple zinnias are now blooming in shades of red and red-violet.  :D  Also the first of the giant sunflowers are blooming there.

I am done for the night.

We had 3 species of woodpeckers on the suet feeder over the weekend - Northern Flicker, Downy and Red bellied Woodpeckers.
The Flicker is a new feeder visitor, I see them around but not typically on the suet.

Today is mostly sunny and mild, a beautiful day. :D

I fed the birds. I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, plus a fox squirrel screaming at me from the top of a tree.

I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 8/3/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 8/3/25 -- My partner Doug mowed the house yard and paths to the fly-through feeder and new picnic table.

I picked up a branch in the house yard.

I did more work around the patio.

I've seen a pair of mourning doves foraging in the cut grass.

EDIT 8/3/25 -- I did ass-busting amounts of effort to haul the hose around, watering the septic garden, new picnic table garden, patio plants, old picnic table garden, and a few other things around the house yard.

EDIT 8/3/25 -- We did more ass-busting amounts of effort to remove the old stretchy hose from the reel, then get the new tape hose onto the reel.

EDIT 8/3/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 8/3/25 -- I watered the telephone pole garden and savanna seedlings with a watering can. Both of this year's pawpaw seedlings are still alive! :D

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.

Today is mostly sunny and mild.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches plus a mourning dove.  The thistle feeder was about half empty.

I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 8/2/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 8/2/25 -- I took some pictures of the metal tray birdfeeder.

EDIT 8/2/25 -- I watered the old picnic table plants.

EDIT 8/2/25 -- I visited the Charleston Food Forest.  Grapes are ripe, which is why we went.  These are tiny white grapes -- pea size or a little bigger -- seedless and very sweet.  :D  I picked 3 bunches and there are plenty left for other folks.  I also got a few asparagus berries, a few white marigold heads, and quite a bit of wild indigo seedpods.  Some wild indigo has tiny bluish seedpods, while others have thumb-sized brown seedpods.

One of the peach trees has completely overgrown the path behind the welcome sign and is covered in peaches.  They are still hard and green.  I hope that I can get some from that tree when they ripen, in hopes of sprouting the seeds.

EDIT 8/2/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

EDIT 8/2/25 -- I trimmed around the goddess garden.  One of the silver thyme plants is almost white now.  :D

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
